Inishmurray IslandJoe McGowan , Mullaghmore, Co. Sligo£12 per head to get out and back and May-October. There is a book available by Innismurray: Gale Stone and Fire is available on the boat by the owner of this ferry service. Inishmurray is one mile long as 1/2 mile wide at its widest point and was inhabited by between 50 and 100 people up to 1957, when the entire population moved to the mainland. The remains of the village are on the south side of the island, as is the Cashel which contains pre Christian and early Christian antiquarian remains such as cursing stones, altars, beehive cells, etc. The Island is also a noted breeding ground for numerous birds including the Eider Duck. A day trip is required, the trip taking 11/2 hours each way. | |

Sligo AirportCo. SligoSligo airport is located near Strandhill outside Sligo town. The airport is served by one flight to Dublin per day in the winter months, this increases in April to 2 per day.
